Big is beautiful but small can be perfectly formed - Interiors Shoot

Last week saw another opportunity to photograph a beautiful kitchen in south east London from Kitchens by Mike Taylor. Whilst previous shoots have shown the incredible results you can achieve from a large social space, this was a fantastic example of a beautifully designed kitchen in a smaller space but still offering perfect style, clever use of storage and exemplary finish and attention to detail - it also goes to prove that an AGA is not just for a traditional country house. For those of us who don't have a huge space to work with, this proves that employing the skills of a very talented designer, results in a light, spacious, beautiful family space.

Pretty in Pink - Interiors Shoot

One gloriously hot day last week, I headed down to Surrey to photograph the latest beautiful kitchen from Kitchens by Mike Taylor. I have to say, this for me was a real wow! Coming in through the front foor, this gorgeous space was filled with incredible natural light, which really showed off the kitchen in all it's glory. Yet again, the immaculate craftsmenship, attention to detail and overall finish of the kitchen was of the highest quality and it was brought to life with vibrant pink accents. This amazing social space was the vision of the owners of the house and I'm sure a labour of love, however having only met them once, I think it reflects their personalities and sense of fun perfectly and will soon be the venue for their upcoming wedding celebrations.

Shooting by the seaside - Interiors Shoot

last week I found myself driving down to the coast to meet kitchen designer, Mike Taylor to shoot another one of his latest complete projects - a beautiful kitchen in Bognor Regis. The pale blue shade of the furniture, the blue neon lighting and the gorgeous clean lines beautifully reflected the natural calm of the seaview and a wonderful sense of space.

Crown Classic Cars -

Crown Classic Cars is a family run business with over 30 years experience in the maintenance and restoration of British Saloon & Sports cars. I've known Tony and Jay for a long time now and also having a father who is obsessed with classic cars and used to restore himself, I have always had a love of the classics - they just don't make them how they used to. Whilst not entirely environmental, you can't overlook the style and shear beauty of a real classic car. To own one is a passion and requires an endless purse to maintain but as soon as you turn the ignition and hear them roar, it's all worth it.

Over many years Jay & Tony have restored some beautiful classics. Having the opportunity to not only take a drive in them and watch heads turn as they roar down the road, they asked me to photograph them - it was a fantastic opportunity for me and one I hope will continue as they boys restore and maintain many more classics to come.

Here are just a few examples of these beautiful beasts....

Kitchens by Mike Taylor - Interiors Shoot

Over the last couple of years I have been working with Mike Taylor - director and extremely talented designer of Kitchens by Mike Taylor. Working with clients internationally,  Kitchens by Mike Taylor provide the highest quality of design, product and service and the results speak for themsleves.

When Mike asked me to photograph some of his completed projects, I jumped at the chance. Not only as I'm quite nosey and love interiors but also it was a fantastic opportunity to extend my portfolio of commercial work beyond that of photographing people.

Whilst I still shoot in a "lifestyle" way - making sure that all of the details are captured and reflect an aspirational way of living, interiors gives me the freedom to really take time to focus on great lighting, detail and reflect the enormous amount of time, care and attention taken during the design and final completion of the kitchens.

Chiswick:

I also had the pleasure of meeting renowned cookery writer, Mary Berry, who had commissioned Mike to redesign not one, but two kitchens in her beautiful home. The images shot that day featured in an article about Mary and the redesign in Beautiful Kitchens magazine and I have to say, kitchen envy set in when I finally had to leave this beautiful space.

The case study of Mary's kitchen can be found in the Kitchens by Mike Taylor website: http://www.kitchensbymiketaylor.co.uk/mary_berry_case_study_final.html

Celebrating women runners of all ages...

A few weeks ago I had a call from the Amanda Brasher, head buyer for the Sweatshop - a family business who believe that every runner, from absolute beginner to international athlete, should have access to the very best equipment available. The company is now in it's 40th year and to celebrate the diversity of women runners, Amanda wanted to capture a series of images of real women runners for inclusion in a catalogue to promote the importance of great sport bras and to highlight the training that all Sweatshop specialists have to ensure they provide the best advice for their female customers.

As a sponsor of Parkrun, an organisation that offers weekly, timed runs for runners of all abilities across a number of London parks, the ideal opportunity was the weekly Saturday morning run in Bushy Park, Teddington. It was a very damp and cold Saturday morning and as I enjoyed a hot cup of coffee, I was amazed to see the number of runners who had turned out.

I'm not sure I would let anyone photograph me after a 5K run but it was fantastic to see how willing all the lovely ladies were for us to photograph them when they finished their run. From 17 to 70, it was inspiring to see such enthusiasm for running and I have to say, how incredibly youthful all of these women looked.

Commercial Shoots - a look back...

As my commercial blog is relatively new, I wanted to highlight some of the great clients I have worked with over the last couple of years and to showcase some of the images resulting from those shoots.

* Damselfly Jewellery *

One of my first clients was Hannah who was a UK representative for Damselfly, an Australian based jewellery company who produce gorgeous pieces inspired from the designers love of art, sculpture and fairytales. Launched in 2001 when the designer was only 18 years old, Damselfly Jewellery is now stocked throughout the world and has featured on the pages of the worlds leading fashion magazines.

Working with Hannah, we needed to capture two sets of images - one that could be used for PR and press purposes, that reflected the luxury and uniqueness of the brand and another producing clean images of the products for use on the website. Below are just a few examples of the final images.

* Bachmanns Patisserie *

Over the last couple of years I have been working with my good friend Chris, owner of Bachmanns Patisserie in Thames Ditton. Established in 1989 by Ernst Bachmann, Bachmanns is one of the UK's finest patissiers winning 17 national awards for patisserie, chocolate and product innovation. This unassuming place is a true find and a destination for lovers of truly beautiful creations.
